About VISA Application

European citizens visiting the USA for tourism generally don't need a visa if they qualify for the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). The VWP allows citizens of participating countries to enter the U.S. for short-term visits (up to 90 days) for tourism or business without a visa.

However, they need to apply for ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) before traveling. If they don't qualify for the VWP, they will need a tourist visa (B-2) or a combined B1/B2 visa.

  • Visa Waiver Program:

The VWP allows citizens of participating countries to travel to the U.S. for tourism and business without a visa for stays of up to 90 days.

  • ESTA:

If you're eligible for the VWP, you'll need to apply for an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) before traveling to the U.S. ESTA is an online authorization for short-term travel and is required for all citizens of VWP countries.

  • Tourist Visa (B-2):

If you don't qualify for the VWP or if your trip will last longer than 90 days, you will need a B-2 visa, which is for tourism, visiting friends and family, etc.

  • B1/B2 Visa:

A combined B1/B2 visa is for short-term stays for business or tourism purposes.

  • Applying for a Visa:

To apply for a visa, you'll need to complete the online nonimmigrant visa application (Form DS-160). You'll also need to pay the MRV fee and schedule an interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate.
