About the location: Just 50 m from Zicatela Beach in Puerto Escondido, Villa Casalet features tropical gardens and an outdoor pool. Each bright room and house offers free Wi-Fi and garden views.
Rooms at the Villa Casalet offer functional décor and a private bathroom with a shower. A spacious 3-bedroom house with a lounge, TV, fully equipped kitchen and terrace. Other accommodation on the premises is available. Villa Casalet is a 2-minute walk from various cafes and restaurants. Central Puerto Escondido is 3 km away, while Puerto Escondido International Airport is within 6 km. Free parking is available on site.

Arrivals at Puerto Escondido International Airport (PXM): Puerto Escondido International Airport has flights to the city of Oaxaca, Monterrey and Mexico City. It is 50 minutes by plane from Mexico City
(and 12 hours by car). Upon arrival at the airport, private taxi´s and shared taxi shuttles (also known as colectivo) are available just outside the airport. Colectivo rides will drop you off at your accommodation, you just have to tell the driver where you are staying.
Travelling to Mexico during COVID: There is no need to take a test before departure or undertake any form of quarantine. If you are catching a connecting flight in another country, please make sure to check the local regulations for the country you are transiting in.

Travelling back from Mexico during COVID: Your country may have restrictions in place when travelling back. Please check your local regulations.

The retreat property, Villa Casalet, are undertaking additional safety and sanitation measures during COVID. Disinfectant is used to clean the property, high-touch surfaces are cleaned and disinfected, sheets and towels are washed at 60°C/140°F or hotter. The hotel follows regional cleaning and disinfection practices of National Guidelines for reopening Tourism (Mexico).

ABOUT PUERTO ESCONDIDO, MEXICO
Puerto Escondido (English: "Hidden Port") in the Oaxaca area is internationally known for its beautiful beaches. Although it's one of the most popular destinations on the Oaxacan coast, Puerto Escondido retains
it´s rustic and relaxed atmosphere. Each one of the eight beaches has its own distinct personality.
But beaches aren't the only thing Puerto Escondido has to offer. At the Atotonilco hot springs, you can bathe in the healing waters that flow from a spring. In order to get there, you ride through the jungle.
​
About 15 minutes by car from Puerto Escondido is the Laguna de Manialtepec. After nightfall at certain times of the year you can se the water of the lagoon glowing with an intense blue color due to bioluminescence. The lagoon is populated by millions of dinoflagellate microorganisms, a kind of phytoplankton that comes from the sea and reproduces in these waters. The phenomenon is however easier to observe from May to November, during the rainy season.
The lagoon is also a bird watcher's paradise. The mangroves, and the tropical ecosystem in general, are a magnet for a wide variety of species, including herons, iguanas, ibis, ducks and parrots.

Other activities include snorkeling and diving, surfing, whale and dolphin watching, releasing sea turtles, paddle boarding and kayaking. About an hour and a half from Puerto Escondido you´ll find San Juan Lachao with it´s amazing national park, perfect for waterfall hiking and zip lining. Tours can be found on site or through for example TripAdvisor.
